Skate Takeover | Portland Video Production

Skateboarding. The gateway into Video Production for a lot of filmmakers. This piece of wood with 4 wheels is what sparked our creativity when we were kids. To be able to come full circle and create this short piece for Findlay Hats was inspiring and reminded us of why we love what we do.

There was a lot of moving parts to make this shoot happen; about 25 skateboarder’s schedules had to align with our film crew of 6, the weather had to be good which can be hard to plan in Portland, and there was a lot of pizza and beer to be ordered.

We shot this project on the Sony FS5 + Atomos Inferno to capture Sony RAW footage.

We spent some time in pre-production scouting the Tilikum Crossing and Eastbank Esplanade to lock down camera angles, shots, and lighting. Before we sent the skaters down the pedestrian bridge we practiced a few times on flat ground to make sure everyone had their timing and spacing right.
